Prologue: The Founding of Bourneford

Welcome to my newest version of the Sims 2 Victorian Neighborhood Challenge (Created by HistoricalSimmer:
https://docs.google.com/document/d/19i1VRIQ_vYSXs8Y7P5uoN4HWiVrZzALJQFl8-qM5SSI/edit). This is my fifth version of this challenge due to primarily computer and sim related issues so I think it's best we just attempt to enjoy the ride, however short or long. I am excited to see how the story unfolds. For the setup I used a custom terrain made for me by the wonderful, Šárka and then used a hair color, eye color and sims 3 trait generator to decide those factors about my founders. Then I used the pooklet method to make said founders, this method is what I will continue to use when new sims get added to the hood. To start off we will be doing 7-day rotations!

Background & Context
The land pictured below has been named Bourneford by the families that have moved and bought this land. They decided on the name, Bourneford, to represent the nearby river and for the sake of similarity with other English communities. This land was used for hunting and farming by a relatively well-off member of the Aristocracy but he has fallen upon hard times. Thus he advertised for people to move to the community so he can get money for the land they buy. Although he didn't think about how scary the prospect of founding a new community and town would seem to many, especially due to it being in Cornwall, yet it seems three young married couples felt and answered the call.

A view of what Bourneford currently looks like!

Meet our Founders!

The Fairchilds:

Meet Edward "Eddie" and Alice Fairchild, they're gonna be the Butchers of our town. Eddie and Alice met while attending their parish's religious services and married after a respectable courtship. He liked her beauty and mysterious allure as she is quite shy and socially distant, while she liked how serious and unconventional he was. When they read the advertisement they jumped at the opportunity, many thinking it a scam but the Fairchilds felt the urge to pursue. Finding it obviously not a scam which worked out in their favor. Their reasoning being Eddie has always dreamed of greatness and desperately wanted to leave everybody he knew behind, while Alice just went along with what her husband wanted. Eddie is a Fortune sim with Knowledge Secondary and has the traits: Rebellious, No Sense of Humor & Loves the Cold. While Alice is a Pleasure sim with Family Secondary and her traits are Loner, Perfectionist & Light Sleeper. With Eddie's no non-sense attitude and Alice's timid behavior, the question is how will they shape Bourneford?

As for their cottage, it is actually quite nice and a rather perfect space for them. They also own chickens and pigs for which will be used for butchering, their house has a backdoor which leads to their backyard where their outhouse and bathtub is located. Hopefully it's a decent enough space for them to grow into and be able to live a life of quality.

The Estmores:

Our second founding couple is Nathaniel and Susan Estmore, who I am expecting to be the least dramatic of my couples but we shall see how that plays out. Nathaniel and Susan lived in a poor rural community in East Anglia and their families have been friends for generations, but Nathaniel and Susan, both middle children, didn't have much of a place back home. When the opportunity arose for them to move here, Nathaniel came to her to not only confess the feelings he had been repressing since his youth but also to ask her if she'd go with him. Now Susan is a proper anxious type, the idea was scary and daunting but she didn't really have a place. Plus her parents have never been supportive of her artistic skill and in his pitch for their union and moving here he said he would support that endeavor. Thus they wed and have moved here where they will run The Bourneford Orchard! Nathaniel is a Popularity sim with Fortune Secondary and Susan is a Pleasure sim with Knowledge Secondary. His traits being Social Butterfly, Easily Impressed & Diva while Susan's are Artistic, Coward & Perceptive. Hopefully Nathaniel's social and wealth aspirations along with Susan's simplicity will keep this family balanced as they try to steer through whatever comes ahead.

The Estmore Cottage has quite a tight yet cozy feel to it. Susan was so pleased to see that Nathaniel made a little section right next to the front door for painting. The nursery can have more space for cribs as well which hopefully will be necessary as the Estmores do hope to have a happy warm-hearted family. Nathaniel is ready to take charge as a proper man of the house and Susan is going to try her best to be prepared to support him in any way necessary, but all she really wants to do is explore her artistic passions.

The Brays:

Our final couple are the Brays and they will provide Bourneford with dairy products which is truly essential. William and Barbara Bray met when William as a pre-teen moved in with his uncle and aunt in their East Sussex community. Barbara intrigued him quickly, she was the only daughter of a farmer and was the youngest of five children yet she seemed out of all her siblings the one who was the most motivated and hardworking. It took a few years for them to even have much further interaction beyond simple pleasantries and light conversation. But when they did finally have more of a developed conversation, they really hit it off and a few months ago after a year of courting they married at their rural parish. When the opportunity arose to be a founding family in Bourneford they took it because Barbara wants the chance to live out her farmgirl dreams all on her own and William believes this will be a great opportunity to turn her passion into their family's success. He is a Knowledge sim with Fortune secondary while Barbara is a Fortune sim with Family secondary. William's traits are Genius, Lucky & Neat while Barbara's are Animal Lover, Daredevil & Slob. Hopefully their commitment to be an equal team will work out for them throughout the trails ahead!

The Bray Cottage is our third building to be built on Bourneford land and it's quite a cute cottage. Their most prized possession being the cows of course yet their house is still quite rather nice and cozy which is surprising considering they work with cows. Hopefully this space will foster their egalitarian mindset further and have tons of tiny feet all over the place in the future
