Rotation 1: Chapter 1: The Fairchild's

This rotation begins with Eddie and Alice woohooing as Eddie rather right off the bat rolled the want to have a child. Of course they also had to christen their new home which they do quickly adjust to, getting into the swing of mundane life.

Eddie starts off with building his body skill because he wants to be quite strong to handle the butchery process. It's not his most favorite hobby but it helps him pass the time as things are rather mundane and he is waiting to progress in both the body and cooking skills before opening the butchery. Working with the dummy and being in this open airy environment has just been enjoyable and is starting off his life in Bourneford on the right step.

Alice in the meanwhile just works on reading tips for cleaning and home management. The fact this home is all theirs just makes her feel so excited plus she also loves that she has no social responsibilities here yet. Living out her true neatfreak introvert dreams, she also works on her cooking skill as she knows that's her responsibility as a wife and hopefully soon as a mother.

As time progresses they fall into chatting about their hopes and dreams, specifically their family. Ever since setting foot on Bourneford soil, Eddie has deeply wanted a child. A heir to the Fairchild name, he's also quite lucky that his wife is a Family sim secondary. She does eventually find out she is pregnant which pleases the couple but the joy settles as they discuss over a lunch how comfortable they find life in Bourneford so far. It's far better than any city.

Eddie one night went out in the rain to take care of the pigs and right when he got over the illness ends up getting his wife sick which is concerning as she is with child. Thankfully her only responsibilities at the moment is cooking food so she is able to rest, but one day she actually remembers her Grandmother's soup recipe which makes her feel better rather quickly.

Right outside of the outhouse while trying to pee, Alice's labor pains begin. Truly like a rural poor woman she is all on her own while her husband has a rather strong lack of reaction leaving her to her lady business as he thinks about it. The labor takes a while, but results in a strong and healthy boy. The sex of the baby is far more relieving to Alice than the health of the child, Eddie like a true Rebellious yet No Sense of Humor man wants a very classical strong name choosing to name his son, Adolphus. The middle name of Edward of course in honor of his father.

Once things are settled, Eddie properly meets his son and heir which makes him feel so proud and even more masculine. After just admiring his son, he shows his wife some attention and the two share a rather cute romantic moment. Alice is quite pleased about it especially as once she was pregnant they only really bonded over meals because Eddie was just deep in his own world.

Eddie decides it's time to slaughter his first animals, deciding to take two hens and remove the boar of the pigs as he left all the sows pregnant. But then he realizes that he needs to focus on his cooking skill before actually getting to the butchering and selling. So the Fairchild business won't likely start till Rotation 2.

Ever since the birth of their son, things have been rather back to how it was when Alice was pregnant which is to say that Eddie and Alice have been in rather their own spheres. Alice certainly also has been struggling with the fact that most of the childcare has been weighing on her, which while normal for the time, doesn't take away her feelings. But when she feels as though her body is cleared for marital relations to begin, she jumps at the opportunity not only because she is a family sim but also because she wants to feel as though her husband cares about her again.

Ever since their marital relations have resumed it seems that Eddie is willing to step up more which I think is likely related to the idea that if she were to get pregnant she'd likely need more rest. Regardless of Eddie's thinking and how I might disagree with his lack of involvement, he does genuinely enjoy this bonding time with his baby boy. Adolphus will almost be a toddler soon which excites Eddie quite a lot as it is more an active stage of development, which might also be why Eddie is finally showering his son with some attention.

Alice is a very doting yet tired mother, constantly trying her best to manage her needs on top of those of her baby boy. She is a family sim secondary, having the lifetime wish of reaching her Golden Anniversary with her husband, so in a way she does feel for Eddie. But it's just hard, she likes that he has been more helpful of late...but that doesn't make up for the before. Adolphus also isn't an easy baby, or at least that is how Alice feels. In reality he isn't too easy or one that is too difficult but this is her first child and she has no networks of support outside of her husband. Thus this does feel hard, hopefully she will either find more of herself and the skills to stand up for herself or be able to rely on either her husband or others more in the future.

Adolphus remains a strong boy as he ages up into a proper little toddler. He is actually one of the cutest sims 2 toddlers I think I've ever seen. Personality wise he is rather a proper mix of his parents which I think also applies to his appearance. I see a lot of his father but obviously he has his mother's eye color and darker complexion. His parents both have high hopes for him, his father wanting to groom Adolphus into a proper upstanding gentleman who can take over the family business one day while Alice wants to have a darling and doting son who will never disappoint her. This poor guy certainly has quite the journey ahead of him.

Despite certain promises, Alice, pregnant with their second child, hungry and exhausted, still does the work of attempting to get her son's needs satisfied. In this endeavour as she removes her son off of his little pot and sets him on the floor she begins to feel di
zzy, the weight of exhaustion taking its toll...she quite literally passes out. After a few minutes she wakes up, her husband of course asleep and having no idea of his wife's struggles, and ends up putting Adolphus in his crib before she heads to the bed.

Ever since his son has matured into what can be understood as a proper little human, Eddie has taken more of an interest. It can't be denied that his interest in fatherhood is certainly related to the fact that he can be more rough and have more playful moments with his son which is interesting considering Eddie is so serious and strict about things. While sure he is helping to keep their son happy, it is on Alice to keep Adolphus fed, bathed and overall she is more focused on his physical needs. As much as Alice is over it she would never bring it up to her husband because she knows this is the reality that many women back home accepted, it's also the reality  she signed up for when she married Eddie.

Adolphus is a far more easier toddler than he was a baby and is rather content with his life. He likes bonding with his mom and having his father to play with. He also adores this little train toy and looks rather dapper in his cutesy little overalls.

This rotation ends with highlight the exhaustion Alice feels trying to manage a house, keep herself and the baby she is carrying alive while also being a good mother to Adolphus and a good wife to Eddie. It's all very hard but especially being the good wife part as Eddie is back to being in his own world now that she is pregnant again, she wonders if it is related to his religious beliefs but she is beginning to notice how different he acts when she is pregnant or even taking care of their son. She just wishes there could be something more there, not only more support and help but also affection. Yet she tries to accept the situation for what it is...but that doesn't mean her body has to.

Comments

  1. Ah. I knew this family was going to have some difficult dynamics, but I feel so bad for Alice already! I was not expecting it to go t shit as fast as it did lol. This poor woman just has too much on her plate and the reality of not even knowing a single person she can turn to right now is so heart breaking for her.
On the other hand, Adolphous is SUCH a cutie. Like, what a perfect little bean he has turned into (in terms of appearances at least).
While I hope Adolphous grows to understand how to be more than what his father is, I have my doubts with his father being who he is and likely taking far more interest the more independent his son becomes. :( Poor girl.
I pretty much hope that this next child not only survives, but is a girl so that just maybe as the daughter ages, Alice will have someone she can connect to in her later years and be "hers" for a while.
Lovely chapter, as always! Looking forward to the next! ♥
