Rotation 2: Chapter 1: The Fairchild's

Due to Alice being close to delivery, Eddie has been stepping up more to take care of Adolphus, feeling quite a special bond with his son. Things have been rather slow for the Fairchilds and with Eddie having yet to start the butchery he just has a lot of time on his hands. Adolphus is also a fairly easy and adorable kid so there isn't a reason for anybody to not love him.

Alice goes into labor that night and ends up delivering twins, a girl and then a boy. Eddie of course comes quick with names on brand for the vision he has for their family. Suggesting Orthia for the girl and Octavius for the boy, Alice decides their middle names which are more simple and fitting for English culture. Alice feels that Eddie is choosing very pretentious uppity names for their children but is keeping that opinion to herself.

Alice adores being a mother and actually the moment after the twins were born rolled the want to have 10 kids. Even if she does feel over-whelmed by it all and the pressure, she knows its her calling. She doesn't want to be remembered for anything other than being a good mother and a woman who loved her children. As she looks into Orthia's eyes she is reminded that she is also a part of the founding of this community, a realization that Alice deeply values and needed.

Two of the sows end up giving birth to a whole group of piglets, which is great for the butchery overall and is rather cute. Although this does mean that Eddie will have to be more involved in the care of the animals.

Eddie's accomplishments have granted him a Writ of Mastery for Butchery. This is great news because he finally feels in a good place to actually open his butchery as he has a stamp of certification to back what he sells to the community. Also in good news for the business, we've had two sets of chicks who have grown up into a total of 12 hens. Hopefully all of this good energy keeps coming for the Fairchilds!

Adolphus Edward Fairchild grows up into an adorable child, gaining the Ambitious trait. He looks like an adorable mix of his parents and will be attending school in a nearby community as Bourneford has yet to establish a schoolhouse of their own. The Fairchilds are dealing with a lack of space though, so his bed will have to be in his parent's room over the nursery with the twins.

Even though the twins keep both of them busy, Alice and Eddie still try to find time to bond with their son together as their own little unit. Alice feels so proud of her son and just wants to soak up all the moments she can while he is so little. Adolphus' world is quite small right now so their dinner is mainly consumed by what Adolphus finds interesting which currently is birds.

Eddie has finally been able to open the butchery after butchering the boar and also slicing seven of the hens. He is quite excited to hopefully gain some business and get not only the money flowing but his name going. Eddie maintains hopes for his family to make their name in Bourneford, not only as a founding family, but one of the richest and most successful. This butchery is the key to that foundation.

Even though Alice has been deep in the cares of her children and the domestic world, she does still try to take the time to help her husband. While she might not care much for the hogs, she knows this is what puts food on their table and with Eddie stepping up, she wants to be there to support him when he needs it.

With the passage of time and the busyness of three kids and the business, the twins age up with what feels like quickness. Orthia and Octavius both are rather fair-skinned but Orthia does look quite similar to her mother while Octavius is rather hard to place. Unfortunately though the family has been beginning to notice that Octavius is falling behind his sister in several ways and there seems to be an issue with his health.

The twins share a cute moment and can often be found interacting with one another, although that can entail some drama when there's an issue over who is playing with what toy. Alice is beginning to get really concerned that Octavius can't keep up with his sister and feels like she can tell that something is wrong but doesn't really know where or who to turn to for support.

Adolphus can tell his mother is concerned about Octavius and decides that maybe he should devote more of his time to his little brother. The two share a rather funny and cute moment, the laughs of Octavius just echoing throughout the house which brings a smile to both Eddie and Alice's face.

Alice, now deeper into her pregnancy, knows how hard things will get to spend time with the twins once the new baby is here. Thus, she tries to make even the most mundane of things like bathing fun. She simply loves having a daughter and has already placed a fair bit of hope onto Orthia. But not too much pressure, she just hopes that Orthia will grow into an upstanding woman of the community.

Sadly the positivity the family was experiencing comes to an end as Octavius was not meant to thrive in this world and sadly dies. His loss leaving a deep pain in the heart of his whole family, Alice does not even know what to do as the pain is just so heavy. She just feels so angry meanwhile Eddie is keeping much to himself. Hopefully, Adolphus and Orthia will keep the two going strong throughout the grieving process.

Not even having more than a few hours to just feel the pain, she quickly goes into labor. The labor is hard and concerning for everyone after such a traumatizing end to what was a short and innocent life. The result is a little baby girl who they name Apollonia (apple-lone-ia) Mae Fairchild, but sadly it seems the trauma is just going to keep continuing...

Apollonia doesn't survive more than a few minutes which leaves Adolphus especially feeling so sad, which only breaks Alice and Eddie's hearts further. How could their son who is so young and precious have already experienced such profound loss?! Also unfortunately the labor difficulties leaves Alice feeling rather weak and she develops a case of the flu.

With time Alice begins to feel stronger and better, deciding to devote her attention to both of her remaining children. She is deeply concerned especially about Adolphus as he had to witness both losses and she knows that he just feels so much so the two play around in the chicken coop area. It's through focusing on her children that Alice is reminded of who she is and that she must work through her grief. Adolphus and Orthia both need her.

The family decides to lay their two children in the backyard under the tree. Losing both Octavius and Apollonia so close together will have left a forever mark on all of them but it's hopefully through familial love and honoring such loss that they can begin to heal.

While Alice has been able to move on in the limited capacity one can after child loss, Eddie is still quite struggling with losing his son and daughter. Even though the business has reached rank one, that doesn't make Eddie feel any better in his struggle. It is with his pain that we end rotation two with this family, hopefully he will be able to find comfort and ease once again.
