Rotation 3: Chapter 1: The Fairchild's

Rotation Three begins with the wonderful mother/son bond between Alice and Adolphus Fairchild. Alice being a family sim secondary with pleasure first means that most of her pleasure and love for the comfortability of life comes from her family, specifically her children. Adolphus is precious, not only is he their first born but he is also just such a sweet kid. Always so kind and considerate of others. Just being near him she is reminded that she is alive and that she created something as amazing as him. On the flip side, Adolphus loves his mother greatly and just simply being near her makes him feel a sense of calm and deep love.

After having recently lost two children, having a horrible labor and gaining the flu one may think that Alice is struggling. But there's a resolve in her, she is simply a fighter who is determined to keep things moving. While her main focus is the kids, she does try to help Eddie here and there with maintaining the animals especially as most of his focus of late has been on the business which is beginning to take off.

Orthia Alice Fairchild ages up into childhood with a familial pool of cheers and affection. Her serious side really begins to show which reminds Alice of the husband she loves, Orthia ends up gaining the Never Nude trait which is likely due to her serious convictions. She overall is quite the nice little girl and makes her parents proud with her maturity and sensibility.

Like the other families of Bourneford, the Fairchilds are struggling with space and thus Orthia's bed ends up in the middle of the main room of their house. While it may be a little inconvenient all that matters is that everything is still functional and that their daughter has a bed. Eddie's focus on the business comes in part due to the reality that the family just needs more space, hopefully soon he will be able to create a bedroom just for the kids.

Adolphus and Orthia are seriously adorable and the two have one of the cutest bonds in Bourneford yet for siblings. The two just love to spend time with each other, Adolphus is far more shy which only gives Orthia the space she needs for her outgoing nature. The two just really balance each other out and there is a genuine love there, both being protective over the other.

In rather fortunate timing, the at-home butchery gains some success allowing them access to the second financial grant at the same time Alice discovers herself to be with child again. While the prospect of pregnancy is quite intimidating especially after the loss of Apollonia and the fact that Alice has the flu, she is determined to not let it stop her from her dreams of a big and happy family. Having the desire to have 10 children might seem a bit ridiculous considering all she has gone through but she just doesn't want to let that dream go.

The bond between these two is just constantly going stronger especially as their parents are both so busy in their own little worlds. Alice focused on rest due to her current status and Eddie focused on achieving the family financial success. Adolphus and Orthia just only really have each other at this time and have accepted it. They love to chase each other around the house, play with toys together, do homework together and so on. Neither really realize how lucky they're to have each other because well they've had each other for as long as they can remember.

Time goes by relatively quickly with Eddie and Alice focused on their own concerns, leaving the two kids to their own devices and the passage of time. Their parents are lucky neither are particularly rebellious or angsty as these two stay responsible, working together on homework which Orthia hates...she certainly isn't one for education haha. Often, they both come from school exhausted and go to sleep in their parent's empty bed which is actually rather adorable, although Alice doesn't let them rest too long as she doesn't want to mess up their actual sleep schedules. Alice loves seeing the two bond and be so close and she often encourages them to do certain activities such as a pillow fight with very old feather pillows outside. Being their mom is very special to her!

Focusing on the business is not an easy task as much as Eddie does love it. The success has been great, especially as they've just hit rank three, but that means there are more customers and thus more stress placed on him. Despite his feelings and stress, Eddie knows that the work he is doing is going to help his family and chart their path to success, something which Eddie has aspired for ever since he replied to that advertisement.

Adolphus Edward Fairchild ages up into a teenager, reminding his parents of how fast time truly flies by. Throughout his childhood, he often rolled wants to become friends with several people and he also has the ambitious trait, which made me consider him to be a Popularity or Fortune sim. But upon remembering his shyness and the fact he has little interest in money, I landed upon him being a pleasure sim which I think makes sense. He wants a comfortable life, one full of friends, family and nice things. In addition to his new maturity, he gains the Good Sense of Humor trait making him a rather well-rounded individual.

The family tries to have dinner all together when they can, with Adolphus now a teen he no longer needs to go to school which means his schedule matches that more of his parents. The family just loves to just sit and talk about things, often enjoying Alice's Grandma's soup recipe as sickness is a familiarity to all of them. They talk about the new addition soon to come, theorizing on the sex and discussing baby names but in all honesty they just want a healthy baby after losing Octavius and Apollonia.

Life is a battle, one full of hardness and bad storms, when the light peaks through it often has to be claimed with blood, sweat and tears. Unfortunately for the Fairchilds in this battle it is hard to see that light. Alice goes into labor and in a very stressful bloody labor delivers twins. The girl wailing but the boy wheezing, quickly naming them Eugenia Apollonia and Thaddeus Octavius. Attentions turn demandingly quick to Alice who sadly bleeds to death, taking the little boy with her....

The moment is traumatic for all of them, each of them devastated. Edward losing his partner, his wife, the mother of his kids while the kids lose their mother. Little Eugenia losing her mother before she even got to be in her embrace. Sobs and despair filling the cottage as a tiny baby wails in distress and need....

What follows is a reckoning, how does one just accept such a loss?! A loss that will truly be carried with them for the rest of their lives. Alice was the foundation of their family, the one who cared for her children and tried to support her husband when he had to step up to provide for the family. Little Eugenia Apollonia, a twin without a twin, a baby without her mother, a little girl named in honor of a sister who passed. Adolphus feels anger, especially at the world. While Eddie just is crying, crying out emotions he doesn't want to allow himself to feel but his body is demanding out of him. The whole ordeal causes him to lose one of his traits, which gets replaced by the brooding trait...for what is the point of happiness with his wife gone?!

It surprises him when he feels the urge the following days to focus on the animals, it's like something just is commanding him to do it. But as he fills the troughs he is reminded that Alice dreamed of the same dream he did, and it is in her honor he must make sure to supply their kids with that dream. The business is what matters, he cannot allow himself to fall into this slump...in a rather toxic way he feels as though as a man and a father he needs to turn off these emotions focusing on what matters. Adolphus is old enough to take care of the baby and can do so until Orthia is old enough to do so herself. These won't be easy times but Eddie must lead his family to keep pushing forward. Working himself so hard to the point he can't think about his wife's death.

Adolphus feels exhausted by the responsibility of caring for little Eugenia, but he knows that is what his mother would want him to do. He has to accept it, this is the new reality. His father distant and only concerned about the business, Orthia more serious than ever and little Eugenia needing so much due to her age. The responsibilities of being the oldest have now truly come to fruition and he feels it but he is determined to maintain a strong face. Orthia needs his love and strength, Adolphus feels desperate to make sure she remains okay and as close to happy as a kid can be during all of this.

They lay Alice and Thaddeus to rest alongside the other lost members of their family, placing Alice's grave in the middle of Octavius and Apollonia. Giving her white flowers to symbolize the purity and innocence she gave to their family. Seeing all the graves under the back tree is devastating for Eddie to look at but he feels comfort every night knowing his wife is close by...even if it is just her body.

Eddie's determined focus pays off as the at-home butchery reaches level four and they gain access to the fourth grant supplying them with a decent savings. One that Eddie hopes will be able to give his daughters decent dowries and allow for not only a house expansion but eventually a storefront. The storefront being a wish Eddie rolled quickly after reaching Level Four, it's the logical next move, a move that will set his family up for generations to hopefully come.

Even though Adolphus has been busy taking care of his little sister, Eugenia and trying to spend time with Orthia, he still manages to find time for the matters that should concern him as the heir to the butchery. He spends the majority of his free time reading cook books, studying animal parts and ways to prepare them. He needs a high enough skill to maintain his father's Writ of Mastery from the Crown and ensure that the butchery can remain strong and fortified. Ever since the death of his mother, Adolphus has realized how fast the reaper can come and take. He wants to ensure that if his father were to pass that he can provide for his sisters. It's his responsibility now to be the one who needs to take this on.

Eddie's relationship with both of his daughters isn't even one of closeness or friendship, but it seems that after some distance from the loss of his wife he is open to building that connection. With Orthia, it is likely too late, but little Eugenia deserves some of his attention. He feels guilty for not being there more but he knew he couldn't do it. It was better to hand the responsibility off to Adolphus who like his mother seems to have a natural nurturing capability. Rotation Three with the Fairchild Family comes to an end with little Eugenia Apollonia Fairchild becoming a precious toddler with thick black hair like that of her mother's.
